Playa Grande is a tranquil and undeveloped beach town on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica slightly north of Playa Tamarindo. It has become internationally popular as one of Costa Rica’s best surfing spots as well as being home to Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas, the nesting ground for thousands of leatherback turtles each year between October to May. Grande’s stunning crescent shaped beach is one of the most expansive beaches in this area of Guanacaste. It stretches for miles and is backed only with vegetation making it the perfect natural setting for a Playa Grande wedding ceremony. Playa Grande is a national park and it is not permitted to go on the beach after sundown to protect the nesting of the turtles. Therefore all wedding receptions and post ceremony activities are planned to take place at off beach locations.
On the southern end of Playa Grande, the gated community of Palm Beach Estates offers a great selection of beach house rentals, in all price ranges, to guests attending a Playa Grande wedding. Other accommodations range from small hotels at affordable prices to luxury beachfront villas that sleep up to 12 people.
As Playa Grande wedding planners we recommend this pristine location to wedding groups of eco tourists and surfers who enjoy nature, surfing and tranquility and those who envision their wedding reception taking place at a luxury villa or a tropical themed, open air restaurant.
